If you don’t remember, the Hilton Head Island airport expanded their airline capacity with a newly expanded runway back in the summer of 2018. These expansions have resulted in a 225% increase of airline passengers in just the first half of 2019! Not only is this a great alternative for our traveling visitors, but also for our residents by allowing them another way of transportation than the dreaded 278 to interstate 95!
Delta Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines all offer direct service to Hilton Head from various local airport hubs. Atlanta, New York and Charlotte are just a few places that you can jet set to or from rather quickly!
The Beaufort County Council Chairman, Stu Rodman, expressed that they don’t feel the travel will be slowing down anytime soon. More and more people are using the added flights for personal and business purposes, which justifies why the expansion was needed! There are hundreds of available one-stop connections, which make it much easier for those of us on Hilton Head.
