Fall at the beach may not be part of your family tradition, but for those who know what Hilton Head Island and nearby Bluffton have to offer they wouldn’t miss it. The air is cooler, and the beaches are less crowded which make for a much more relaxing day. There are also several popular outdoor events you don’t want to miss when you’re in town. We wanted to share a couple of our favorites with you – to make sure you plan to be here and celebrate fall with us!
Hilton Head Island Shrimp Festival | September 20-21 | Harbour Town
If you’re a shrimp lover you don’t want to miss this event. The second annual Hilton Head Island Shrimp Festival will be held on Friday, September 20 from 5-8 pm and Saturday, September 20 from 2-5 pm. It is $35 each day or you can purchase a two-day ticket which will be $65. This fun-filled event will be located under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town and will feature craft beers, a Lowcountry boil and barbeque and an assortment of shrimp dishes from nearly 20 local and regional restaurants.
Tickets can be purchased online or in person and a portion of the event proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island! We love when our community gives back!
Jeep Island | October 11-12 | Honey Horn Plantation
The Jeep Island event is an island favorite! Whether you drive a jeep or not, this event is for everyone! This year it will be combined with the annual Chili Cookoff, so make sure to drive your Jeep (if you have one), brings your friends and your appetite! Friday night starts with a kickoff cookout welcome party from 5:00 -8:30 PM. There will be a bonfire, cookout and live entertainment. Saturday is full of activities including a rock wall, bungee jump with awards, vehicles on display, delicious chili a live band and for football fans the game will be on the big screen.
Bluffton Seafood & Arts Festival | October 12-20 | Downtown Bluffton
Bluffton South Carolina is known for its talented art community, locally harvested seafood and
delicious Lowcountry cuisine. If you’re visiting the area October12-20th and you want to get a feel for what South Carolina has to offer you should stop by the Bluffton Seafood & Arts Festival in Downtown Bluffton. This will be the 15th annual Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival! And if you’ve never been, there is a reason that it is still rocking and rolling! There are local restaurant and bars offering their best cocktails and food items, local entertainment and over 100 artists displaying and selling their art. This family event is loved by all and takes up almost the entire downtown.
The festival is full of events all week long, but Saturday is the main attraction. Make sure to book your trip now if you haven’t already! You won’t want to miss this local event!
Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival | November 1-3| Port Royal Golf Club
Enjoy the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival with over 500 cars, boats, motorcycle and aircrafts on display. If you’re looking for an elegant motor experience surrounded by true Southern hospitality you will find it at this regal event. This event is located on the golf course of the Port Royal Golf Club and is a packed event year after year! Whether you are a car fanatic or not, you will love to see vehicles throughout the years. Although you can’t drive them, the owners will most likely be there (guarding them) and will allow you to look inside and give you a little history. These are their babies after all.

Hilton Head Island Oyster Festival | November 8-9 | Shelter Cove Community Park
With thousands of people attending this each year, it doesn’t need a big introduction. And if you have a love for oysters – you really don’t want to miss this! This local event put on by the Island Recreation Center, is full of local vendors, local entertainment and a whole bunch of oysters!
Tickets can be purchased online or day of the event at the entrance. There will also be great merchandise available for purchase from the event and local vendors so prepare yourself!
